I purchased an airplane based at LaGrange-Callaway, and circumstances favored trailering it home. I can't begin to explain how lucky I am that it was based at KLGC. I spent 10 long days disassembling and loading the airplane onto a trailer to haul back to TX. I overnighted in their pilot bunk, which was clean and comfortable (and far closer than any area hotels). During my stay, I had the opportunity to get to know Troy (manager) and his wonderful staff, Colby, Joey & Steve. Each of them could not have been more helpful in providing local recommendations, helping me dispose of AVGAS, unsticking a hangar door, and being available to shoot the breeze during a rare break in work. Southside Aviation... James and Bill were a wealth of advice to someone new to wrenching on their own aircraft. They arranged use of a forklift on short notice and helped load my fuselage on the trailer in under an hour! I look forward to returning by air and visiting all my new friends at KLGC!

I can't say enough positive with Southside Aviation Maintenance at LGC. Mechanic James Mackey came out to ask if I needed anything and knew something was wrong with my engine with the sound it was making after start. He immediately had me wheel the ship over to his facility and determined it was a stuck valve on cyl. #1. He had me going in a few hours time. Amazing service with many years of experience. I borrowed the airport's courtesy car to get some BBQ at Hog Heaven. Will return!

Landed klgc unexpectedly Saturday due to moderate turbulence and because runway oriented into wind. Airport personnel very helpful in tying down and providing courtesy car. Next day they helped start my engine due to my having left the master switch on overnight. I recommend this airport as very friendly and helpful to transient pilots and dumb ones like me.
